Konsumen:

Penggunaan estrogen dianggap oleh produsen dan beberapa pihak untuk menjadi kontraindikasi pada pasien dengan aktif trombotik atau gangguan tromboemboli. Penggunaan yang mengandung estrogen kontrasepsi oral juga dianggap kontraindikasi pada pasien dengan riwayat gangguan tersebut dan/atau saat ini serebrovaskular atau penyakit arteri koroner. Hiperkoagulabilitas dan perubahan pada berbagai faktor pembekuan darah dan komponen darah telah diamati pada wanita yang menerima terapi estrogen. Meskipun signifikansi klinis dari efek ini tidak diketahui, data epidemiologi yang menunjukkan hal itu mungkin tergantung dosis. Risiko ini mungkin sedikit dengan penggunaan yang lebih baru, dosis rendah kontrasepsi oral dengan tidak adanya faktor risiko yang diketahui (misalnya, perokok, terutama di atas usia 35; hipertensi; hiperlipidemia; obesitas; diabetes; usia lebih dari 40).
